About Us

Key community leaders, within the Cities of Farmington/Farmington Hills, mobilized in 1997 to begin the process of identifying common goals and to work to decrease gaps and fragmentation within drug and violence prevention efforts. To that end, a formal "Call to Action" Summit was held in January, 1998, with representation of 120 community members. During the Summit, the community committed to increase networking among community agencies and organizations and to formally create a community Coalition. The "Call to Action" Coalition (CTAC) was launched in January, 1999. The Coalition is the catalyst that facilitates alliances among all agencies, organizations and residents in the Farmington/Farmington Hills community.

Vision of the CTAC

The vision of the CTAC is to break the silence and to create a community wide "intolerant attitude" toward behaviors that threaten the safety and well being of each and every one of our community members. Through community goal-setting, the Coalition commits to facilitate and to expand community wide networking, serve as a clearinghouse to provide resources and materials, and to design and implement educational forums on current drug and domestic violence trends.

Membership

The Coalition consists of a Board of Directors and Advisory Council comprised of members representing the schools, parent groups, law enforcement, fire department, judiciary, city governments, businesses, faith communities, medical, mental health, treatment centers and other service providing agencies and organizations throughout the cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills and surrounding areas. Members serve as liaisons between their respective affiliations and the Coalition. The CTAC strongly believes that the entire community must commit to the prevention of drug and domestic violence issues that may threaten its health and safety. Only when all community sectors support consistent and age-appropriate community norms and values, will negative behaviors change.

The members of the Coalition are volunteers from the community who are committed to networking community sectors and creating linkages strictly focused on drug and domestic violence initiatives. Volunteers are critical to the success of the coalition. A Coalition whose members represent the diversity of its area will have greater success in involving, motivating and empowering its community. You can help break the silence by committing to action.

Donations

While the organization's vision guides the work, contributions assist in efforts to increase awareness, intervention, and prevention. Cash or checks made payable to the Call to Action Coalition, "a non profit organization," are 501(c)(3) deductible and can be mailed to:
